SIGMA SD1 Firmware is now available to download.
The firmware is a program which runs inside the camera and controls its operation.
For customers using Sigma's SD1
*Please note; this firmware cannot be used with the SD9, SD10, SD14 and SD15.
- SIGMA SD1 Firmware Ver.1.04
This firmware update should be applied to any SD1 camera that has firmware “Ver.1.03” and lower.
* If your camera already has firmware“Ver.1.04”, you do not need this update.
Ver. 1.04
- Languages to be displayed in Set Up menu are added.
- Enables the use of “SIGMA Capture Pro” camera control software.
- Playback Menu is improved.
- Saturation limit of highlight areas on JPEG images is improved.
- Accuracy of evaluative exposure metering is improved.
- Accuracy of Auto Focus is improved.
- Various bugs have been corrected to achieve more stable operation.
Ver. 1.03
- Accuracy of Auto White Balance is improved.
- Accuracy of evaluative exposure metering is improved.
- Accuracy of flashgun light control is improved.
- Image quality at high ISO (ISO3200 and ISO6400) is improved (only RAW file).
- Sharpness processing is improved (only RAW file).
- Various bugs have been corrected to achieve more stable operation.
Ver. 1.02
- Correct various bugs to achieve more stable operation.
- Correct the phenomenon of camera freeze when in Custom White Balance Mode.
- Improved image quality at high sensitivity (ISO3200, ISO6400) only for RAW file.

Turn on the camera.

Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

Select “Firmware Update” from the Set-up Menu.
The installed firmware information is displayed.
If the version is “Ver.1.03” and lower, it is necessary to update to this new firmware version.
If the camera is turned off during the update procedure, it might cause a malfunction and damage your camera.
To avoid causing a malfunction, please read the following carefully before updating the firmware.
- Please use a dedicated AC adapter or a fully charged battery.
- Do not open the BATTERY/CARD COVER or operate the camera during the firmware update.
- Do not turn off the camera during the firmware update.
Please use 512MB or larger CF card and format the card in the camera body.
* To avoid loss of your important data, please check the CF card before formatting
Please connect a card reader containing the CF card or the SD1 to your computer and click the Download button or right click on the mouse (if you use a Macintosh computer, please press Control + click) to store the firmware file in the CF card root directory (Please do not store the file in a subfolder such as “DCIM”).
* If the firmware has downloaded whilst the camera is connected to your computer, please turn off your camera before disconnecting it from your computer.

Insert the CF card stored the “SD1V_104.BIN” file into your camera and turn on the SD1.
* It is not necessary to connect the camera body to your computer.

Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

Select “Firmware” from Set-Up Menu.
Press the OK button again to display the firmware update window.

Press the OK button to start the firmware update.

“Start Firmware update?” message will be displayed.
In the unlikely event that the “Start Firmware update” message does not appear, an error message will be displayed in the lower part of display.
A list of possible reasons for this error message, along with the solutions, appear below.
No Firmware update file on Memory card
It is possible that the Firmware update file is not stored in the root directory. Please repeat the above installation from STEP 02.
Cannot update firmware!
Battery Empty.
Please use a dedicated fully charged battery and repeat the above installation from STEP : 03.

Press the OK button again to start the firmware update. (It takes about a 4 minutes to update.)

If the “Firmware update is failed!” message appears during firmware updating, please check the following Error Code table. Please turn off the camera and repeat the above installation from STEP 01. When the “Firmware update is complete. The camera will restart automatically.” Is displayed, the update is complete.
* Please do not operate the camera until “Firmware update is completed” is displayed.

Select “Firmware” from the Set Up menu and select ‘Current Version’ to confirm the firmware has updated to “Ver.1.04”. If “Ver.1.04” is displayed, the update is complete.
