SIGMA Firmware Update

SIGMA SD15 Firmware is now available to download.
The firmware is a program which runs inside the camera and controls its operation.

Who can download and update

For customers using Sigma's SD15
*Please note; this firmware cannot be used with the SD9, SD10, SD14 and SD1.

New camera firmware update now available for download

  • SIGMA SD15 Firmware Ver.1.04

This firmware update should be applied to any SD15 camera that has firmware “Ver.1.03” and lower.
* If your camera already has firmware“Ver.1.04”, you do not need this update.

Benefits of this firmware update

Ver. 1.04

  • The phenomenon that the highlighted part of images develop a color cast has been corrected.

Ver. 1.03

  • Languages to be displayed in Set Up menu are added.
  • Accuracy of evaluative exposure metering is improved.
  • Corrects the rarely occurring phenomenon that it is not possible to magnify X3F files or show the histogram in review mode.
  • Various bugs have been corrected to achieve more stable operation.

Ver. 1.02

  • RAW+JPEG simultaneous recording is incorporated
  • Accuracy of evaluative exposure metering is improved
  • Accuracy of flashgun light control is improved
  • Correct various bugs to achieve more stable operation.

Ver. 1.01

  • Adds the selected function of Quick Set
  • Improves the display quality of the Color LCD monitor
  • Addition to the Key Sound cancellation function

How to check the current firmware version

Step 1

Turn on the camera.

Step 2

Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

Step 3

Select “Firmware” from the Set-up Menu.
The installed firmware information is displayed.
If the version is “Ver.1.03” and lower, it is necessary to update to this new firmware version.

Caution (Firmware update)

If the camera is turned off during the update procedure, it might cause a malfunction and damage your camera.
To avoid causing a malfunction, please read the following carefully before updating the firmware.

  • Please use a dedicated AC adapter or a fully charged battery.
  • Do not open the BATTERY/CARD COVER or operate the camera during the firmware update.
  • Do not turn off the camera during the firmware update.

How to update the firmware

Step 1

Please use 512MB or larger SD/SDHC card and format the card in the camera body.
* To avoid loss of your important data, please check the SD/SDHC card before formatting

Step 2

Please connect a card reader containing the SD/SDHC card or the SD15 to your computer and click the Download button or right click on the mouse (if you use a Macintosh computer, please press Control + click) to store the firmware file in the SD/SDHC card root directory (Please do not store the file in a subfolder such as “DCIM”).
* If the firmware has downloaded whilst the camera is connected to your computer, please turn off your camera before disconnecting it from your computer.

Step 3

Insert the SD/SDHC card stored the “SD15V104.BIN” file into your camera and turn on the SD15.
* It is not necessary to connect the camera body to your computer.

Step 4

Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to display the Camera Set-up Menu.

Step 5

Select “Firmware” from Set-Up Menu.
Press the OK button again to display the firmware update window.

Step 6

Press the OK button to start the firmware update.

Step 7

“Start Firmware update?” message will be displayed.

In case of “Start Firmware update” message is not displayed

In the unlikely event that the “Start Firmware update” message does not appear, an error message will be displayed in the lower part of display.
A list of possible reasons for this error message, along with the solutions, appear below.

Error Message

No Firmware update file on Memory card

Solution

It is possible that the Firmware update file is not stored in the root directory or an old firmware version is stored in the card. Please repeat the above installation from STEP 02.

Error Message

No Memory Card
* The firmware version will be displayed like “-.--”.

Solution

Please turn off your camera and insert the SD/SDHC card with the stored firmware “Ver.1.04”(copied to root directory) into your camera. Then repeat the above installation from STEP 03.

Step 8

Press the OK button again to start the firmware update. (It takes about a 2.5 minutes to update.)

Error!

If the “Firmware update is failed!” message appears during firmware updating, please check the following Error Code table. Please turn off the camera and repeat the above installation from STEP 01. If it is not possible to update by following "Solution", please visit the following technical support page for our World Network contact details.

Error Code Details of Error Solution
A004 The battery power is insufficient. Please use a dedicated fully charged battery and repeat the above installation from STEP 03.
A005 AV cable is connected. Turn off the camera power and remove the AV cable from your camera. Please repeat above installation from STEP 03.
A006 USB cable is connected. Turn off the camera power and remove the USB cable from your camera. Please repeat above installation from STEP 03.

Step 9

When the “Firmware update is completed” message is displayed, please turn off camera and then turn it on again.
* Please do not operate the camera until “Firmware update is completed” is displayed.

Step 10

Select “Firmware” from the Set Up menu and select ‘Current Version’ to confirm the firmware has updated to “Ver.1.04”. If “Ver.1.04” is displayed, the update is complete.
